Shawna Bentley

Background and Education
Shawna is a New Hampshire native having grown up in Canterbury. She joined the firm in July 2018 after graduating from the University of New Hampshire School of Law (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center), where she completed the Daniel Webster Scholar Honors Program. While at UNH Law, Shawna received the American Bar Association/ Bloomberg BNA Award for Excellence in Labor & Employment Law as well as the National Association of Women Lawyers Award for contribution to the advancement of women in society.

She previously attended Southern New Hampshire University, where she graduated with a double major in English Language and Literature and English Education. Shawna worked as a high school English teacher after graduating college, and she applies the same passion for advocacy she developed as an educator to her practice at Lawson Persson & Chisholm, PC.

Prior to practicing law, Shawna also served as a research assistant at the National Education Association of New Hampshire, completed judicial internships at the Belknap County Superior Court and Franklin District and Family Courts, and worked as a teaching assistant for Legal Research at UNH Law.

Shawna focuses her practice in the areas of Family Law, Education Law, and Estate Planning and Probate. She is admitted to practice law in New Hampshire and serves as Acting Treasurer for the Belknap County Bar Association.

Personal Interests and Activities
Shawna is a movie buff and avid reader, and enjoys kayaking, traveling, and cooking. A tourist in her own state, she likes to learn about New Hampshire and enjoy its scenery and attractions whenever she can. She resides in Belmont with her husband.
